Pleased in P-Ville

Yesterday I was warmly embraced by Zoe and her generous family, whom I was practically raised by, upon stepping off of the megabus at Penn Station. Leaving DC was pretty miserable, but I steeled myself for the 4 1/2 hour trip to NYC. Luckily there was a bathroom.

We went straight to P-Ville with my luggage sapping our strength and hydration. New York subways have AC on the subway, but not inside the subway stations making for some moments of uncomfortable heavy sweating.

It has been good catching up with Zoe and family; we had pork tenderloins for dinner in honor of my arrival. Along with sliced carrots and cauliflower. Man I love carrots and cauliflower. Last night Zoe and I made an outing to the local theater to catch The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2; unfortunately it was a real tear-jerker and I may have embarrassed her by shedding one or two tears. Oh travails, travels, and friendships...

Today was spent in Brooklyn with Nicole. She found an interesting studio in Bushwick and, true to her style, is customizing it with walls and her own personal flare. It will be cute once it's finished I'm sure.

Two wonderful events transpired today: I opened a bank account and visited the New York Public Library. If you have ever seen Sex and the City you will know what I'm talking about. The library has exquisitely painted high domed ceilings and wonderful studying outlets; it's like being in the Sistine Chapel with books and internet.

I especially enjoyed the sign that said: "Winnie-the-Pooh and his pals have gone on vacation and taken the Gutenberg Bible to read at the beach. They will return in the fall."

As long as I have my public library and Zoe and Nicole, I think New York will be more than bearable.
